Apple picking was a day outdoors for BQS families. Children picked apples, noticed how a fruit grows on the branch, and brought that story home.

The apple is also part of Qazaq heritage. Alma means apple, and wild apple forests still grow in the mountains of southeastern Kazakhstan.
